today is valentine's day and i'm not cynical.  what?!!  i thought today was national "bitter about being single" day!!  no, i'm not trying to reprimand all my eloquent but sarcastic friends about their abhorrence of valentine's day; i'm just sprinkling a little optimism in here because it's one of my favorite hobbies.  i (and i know i'm not alone, you're here in the boat with me) have so many friends and family members (and Jesus!!!) who love me that i can't really be (even jokingly) angry with the world.  so happy valentine's day, wallow in your scorn if you'd like, but just know that i'm sending out a big, happy hug to you!

well, i have fallen prey to lethargy and have deprived all you good people of a summary of my life over the last few weeks.  the most exciting thing that's happened is that my sister came to visit last weekend.  just in case you never heard...

MY SISTER CAME TO VISIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

yes, it was the biggest deal of the year.  we did everything.  think of anything you could possibly do on this campus and we probably did it.  think of anyone you know on this campus and we probably met him or her.  it was wonderful.

other than that, i've mostly been socializing and eating and going to class.  that pretty much sums up my life.

hope you're all happy for another few months until some monumental event comes up again and i write something here.   :)

adios

i feel like i've been in a cave for the past two weeks.  jterm is a lot of fun but i still feel like i never have any free time.  i suppose i just spend my free time socializing...imagine that.  there's really nothing new or exciting to tell you all about.  so i think i'll take a nap now.

p.s. you are cordially invited to breakfast every weekday morning at 7 am.  please join the ranks of zombies staggering to the dc for sustenance.  it will brighten your day!

yay for david!  he just helped me get my internet working back at home so i can update you all on my thrilling life.  i decided i wouldn't bore you all with a summary of the last ten days of my life, so here are some highlights:

best birthday ever! (aside from not being home with my family)  i got surprises starting at midnight: tackle from amanda and jessica, snowballs from stephen and david, earflap hat from karen (i'd been wanting one for months and it fits perfectly and now i'm hat buddies with gabriel), favorite mug/stuffed lambie/cough drops/STEINBECK SHORT STORIES COLLECTION!!!/other goodies from auney-o, THE CHRONICLES OF NARNIA!! from my parents, fluffy socks from allison, and a whole host of other wonderful things from all my good friends.  swallow also surprised me with a birthday party and fudge and a t-shirt in norwegian that really meant a lot to me.  thank you to all who made this an unbeatable day!

well, it's time for me to move onto other things in my life, but i will return another day to tell you all about the other exciting things going on here in the land of ice and snow.

so these were the best two days ever...

thursday (i think...maybe it was wednesday...the days have been blending together lately) i had an amazing snowball fight on the way back from dinner.  then we went to the 12:01 showing of narnia and it was snowing and we got back at 4:30 [quick note - just realized that today is saturday, not friday] friday morning.  i actually didn't fall asleep in any of my classes or in chapel (yes, there were only 7 people in the lower swallow section) so that was a blessing but it definitely was a long day.

then i got a package from my friend kayla from home and it was chock full of birthday presents.  a huge box filled up to the brim.  amazing.  i almost cried when i got it.  what a friend i have.

in the afternoon i got to go skiing (at drifty points it was more like snowshoeing) with my spanish prof!!!  it was so much fun.  i'm crazy excited to go to ski camp when i get home.  i'll get to go skiing on real trails with a real snowcover and i'll get to see a bunch of my best friends from home.  yay!

then i went with social group plus amanda to see the walkway of lights in marion and to visit julia's friend laurie.  her house is a lot like mine so that was nice and it was decorated with that beautiful chocolate brown that i love.

today i slept til 2, cleaned my room, went to work, and then went to hang out with some friends from foundations (honors geeks, i know) and it was a lot of fun.  thanks out to randy!

then i came home with full intentions of studying and instead watched moulin rouge with kat (her favorite movie) and got to help welcome in her birthday.  that was probably the highlight of my day.

well, there's a comprehensive summary of my day.  not too exciting.  i'll try to leave you with some deep thought next time, but for now i'll leave with being shallow.  hope you're having a wonderful time in the snow!!!
